Exclusive Port Douglas Accommodation Specials

February 16th, 2015

Port Douglas at this time of the year is almost more enjoyable than at any other time. It’s really tranquil; the town gets back to being more like the old original fishing village. Everyone is relaxed, the atmosphere is good old laid-back tropical; people smile at each other as they pass in the street, even more than they do the rest of the year.

Our local café has a sign on it: “gone fishing”, but there are still plenty of good cafés, juice bars and pie shops open for business. And the restaurants! One of the best things about The White House is that it’s an easy stroll from at least 12 world-class restaurants and there’s no need to book at this time of the year. The only real problem is deciding what sort of food to have this time… Italian? Thai? Chinese? French? Modern fusion? Oh, what a wonderful dilemma.

Port Douglas accommodation specials

To work up an appetite for all this delicious food, it’s glorious weather for a day on the reef; snorkelling, diving, just lazing on a luxurious boat with a few other like-minded souls. Or maybe take a trip to Cape Tribulation to see the Daintree Rainforest at its most beautiful, green and lush and rampant with new growth. Which brings me back to food (surprise!) – there is so much mouth-wateringly delicious tropical fruit available right now, I have it at every meal: mangoes, rambutans, jackfruit, dragonfruit, papayas and so on and on. Bliss!

Port Douglas Apartments

February 16th, 2015

With so much to see and do, these Port Douglas apartments make it easy for you to enjoy the charms of this tropical North Queensland paradise.

The White House Port Holiday Apartments offer a unique perspective on Port Douglas. Facing onto the large parkland of the plainly named Surf Life Saving Reserve, a glimpse of the ocean can be seen through the various stands of eucalypts and palm trees. It’s a surprisingly pleasing setting that delights the other senses as well. Awaken to the sound of birdsong, helpful when you have such busy holiday schedule…

Port Douglas Things to See and Do

There are many different kinds of activities and ways to experience the Great Barrier Reef, and whether you choose a luxury yacht charter, a specialist vessel with an underwater viewing platform, or via a scuba or snorkelling expedition, we can recommend the charter that is just right for you.

You will also want to visit the Daintree Rainforest. Imagine crossing off not one, but two UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Daintree Rainforest at around 1,200 square km, is the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest on the Australian continent and is one of the few places in the world where the rainforest meets the reef. There you will experience one of the oldest continuous living tropical rainforests in the world – over a hundred million years old. Ask us about package tours to the Daintree. You’ll be surprised to find there is also a multitude of ways of experiencing the mighty rainforest. Conversely, organise a self-drive tour yourself to the Mossman Gorge. There you will find the Mossman Gorge Centre – a new eco tourism initiative hosted at the Mossman Gorge – an inland gateway to the Daintree Rainforest.

You will enjoy returning to the White House Port Holiday Apartments after a day adventuring on sea or in the forest. We have a beautiful salt water pool, complete with waterfall, a large barbeque area, and deliciously spacious and airy apartments. What are you waiting for… book your tropical Port Douglas apartments today for your next getaway.

Port Douglas Accommodation

February 14th, 2015

Are you a visitor looking for Port Douglas accommodation from which to base your far North Queensland tropical holiday?

The White House Port Douglas Holiday Apartments is the resort to launch your adventure to the ancient Daintree Rainforest.  The building is an internally remodelled suite of apartments that offers a clean modern take on resort living while retaining the style and architectural trappings of an “Old Queenslander”.

The Daintree and Great Barrier Reef is the only World Heritage listed area in the world where two such ecosystems exist side by side – the magnificent underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef and the lush tropical rainforests of the Daintree. Both systems meet at the coastal lowland area between the Daintree and Bloomfield Rivers.

The southern Daintree region stretches from the rainforest walks of Mossman Gorge on the Mossman River northwards to the Daintree River and includes rainforested coastal ranges, pristine beaches, tropical farmlands, a wildlife sanctuary, horse-rides, tropical gardens and tiny, historic Daintree Village. This is the last settlement before crossing the Daintree River into the Daintree Rainforest.

Wildlife of every kind flourishes on the Daintree River and its banks especially has become a haven for bird watchers.

Riverboat tours are a fabulous way to view the forest and its inhabitants. The estuarine crocodiles are a major attraction. During winter, daily visitors arrive to see crocodiles sunning themselves on the riverbanks, and view the rich and varied rainforest flora and fauna. The wetland forests are also fascinating ecoscapes to behold.

Come and see us at our tour desk. We can help plan an action-packed itinerary. There are excellent guided rainforest walks, river cruises and wildlife viewing around the area. The all-wheel drive guided tours take you to parts otherwise inaccessible and unknown to self-drive adventurers.

Return after a day of adventure, and refresh yourself in the heated salt pools of the White House Port Douglas Holiday Apartments. A long cold drink on the verandah of your apartment in the early evening will be well-deserved and feel very satisfying. Book now and find out just how special our Port Douglas accommodation is. Don’t forget to bring your pith hat.
